HABIT STACKING
Have you heard of this term? Humans are habits creatures. We all have habits; some are good, some are not so much, and some we wish we haven’t even had them!
What does that have to do with beauty, you ask?
Here is a typical conversation with a client:
Client: “I have all the products I need, but I never use them.”
Me: “where do you store them?”
Client: “in my bathroom.”
Me: “Where in the bathroom?”
Client: “Under the sink, I even bought a nice basket to put them all in”
I may have had this conversation with you already.
I hear it all the time. And this is what I suggest:
Stack your habits!
You may already have a habit, let’s say – brushing your teeth at night. This is something you do without even thinking; you may hop to bed and think, “have I brushed my teeth?” then run your tongue over your teeth to discover it is already done.
The next step should be easy now: firstly, get your products from under the sink – now you can see them. Place the toothbrush on the night cream (or even under) to start with – there you have it – habit stacking! You will now remember to use your night cream after cleansing your face and brushing your teeth.
Of course, this is just an example; you can use it for so many other things, like; if you want to train yourself to read, place the book on your pillow to read for 5 minutes before bed.
